My Mum, the Artist and My Biggest Inspiration - Alison Hack

If you’ve followed Munks and Me from the beginning, then you’ve unknowingly been admiring my mum’s artwork for years.

She’s not only my biggest inspiration, she’s also the creative force behind many of our best-selling designs. As we evolved into wallpaper, her art evolved with us, helping shape the look and feel of our brand.

One of our most loved pieces, the Baby Safari mural, is her creation, full of gentle charm and timeless character. She’s also the talent behind our Transport and Farmyard murals, and our playful Billy Checks and bold Harlequins, to name just a few. Her work has been an anchor for Munks and Me, quietly magical, deeply thoughtful, and full of heart.

Growing up, I always knew she was special. I’d ask her to draw me anything “Mum, can you draw me a duck?” “A car?” “A little girl holding flowers?” and without fail, she’d bring it to life in front of my eyes. To me, it was like watching a magician at work. Her ability to create so effortlessly left a lasting impression, and I’ve carried that creative spirit with me ever since (though truth be told, she’s still the better artist!).

Working alongside my mum on this has been a dream. It’s more than just a collection, it’s a celebration of heritage, creativity, and love passed from one generation to the next.

So here’s to my mum, my lifelong inspiration, and now, my creative partner. Thank you for everything you’ve drawn, dreamt, and helped bring to life.
